Many people have times when they feel lost, confused or stuck either personally or professionally. This is a natural part of our engagement in our lives. Movement through these phases is a part of growing and developing, but sometimes help and support may be needed in respect of these difficulties, possibly alongside more far reaching and persistent concerns. I aim to provide this support, in a confidential, sensitive and respectful setting.
I am a UKCP Registered Gestalt Psychotherapist. I work in private practice in Steyning, West Sussex with individuals. I also offer supervision for counsellors and psychotherapists, and mentoring for other professionals.
I believe it is crucially important to create a therapy setting which is supportive, understanding and honest. I have over 30 years' experience of helping people recover from stress, anxiety, depression, panic attacks, abuse and the effects of physical and psychological trauma. This can include the effects of early neglect and abandonment, including the separations resulting from boarding school education. Work with ex-boarders has been a significant proportion of my practice for the last 15 years.
I have also worked extensively with people experiencing persistent conflicts and negative behaviour patterns who seek creative directions for their lives, as well as those going through major life transitions, such as bereavement, retirement, divorce, redundancy etc.
As a painter, I also have an interest in the part played in development by creativity and in working with those encountering creative blocks.
My practice area covers West and East Sussex. By car from Brighton: 20 mins.
